Titled after popular self-help books, these photographic works explore our emotional relationship to food and the notion of romantic love as simultaneously seductive, intoxicating and hard to swallow. Flirting with the absurd and the aesthetic of advertising, Nadège Mériau combines mouth watering ingredients with domestic products and building materials - synthetic sponge, sand paper, concrete. By juxtaposing contrasting textures, the artist does not only ‘play with food’, but also ignites our senses and questions traditional depictions of the comestible.
