"Meriau's Mycotopia does something that I think most good new art does, it unites ideas which don't sit together that easily in order to propose new directions. This sculpture, this object that is transforming itself, how would you move it or recreate it? Of course artists' have asked this question before, I've mentioned a few above, but it's the completeness of this object, as a sculpture, that lends it a feeling of portability in a way the sprawling house filling crystals of a Roger Hiorns installation for example are not.
